Dennis broke his arm...it was bound to happen. Tuesday, he was jumping on a trampoline at a friend's house with some buddies and stumbled and fell (not off of the trampoline). He complained that his arm hurt and I kissed him and hugged him and he went on his way. Over the next couple of days, he sometimes favored it, but he didn't cry, complain or slow down. Finally Friday morning, he was still favoring it and it looked swollen to me, so we took him in. Sure enough, it was fractured below the elbow. What a tough little guy! The doctor was amazed that it had been since Tuesday and he hadn't really complained. They said adults with lesser breaks come in crying. I just feel bad it took us so long to figure it out. Anyway, he will get a cast Monday, but I had to get a picture of the mini sling, it's too cute. He is quite proud of it and likes to tell the story of how it got broke.

Here's a better view....sorry, I hadn't buttoned him up yet. He isn't crawling, just wiggle-worming. Goodness...slow down buddy.

He also tried his hand at some fine motor skills...note the concentration. He didn't ever make it to his mouth though. But, baby steps.

Oh man. Is that your first break? Glad he's a little tough guy.
ReplyDeleteLiam is very concerned. He walked in and saw the picture. He does look cute, it was bound to happen, and I'm sure we won't be far behind! We are all better and we do need to get together. You've been picture busy!!
ReplyDeleteBetter than B's leg but still sad. What a tough guy; believe me I know! Way to go Q! I can't believe you are already on the go.
ReplyDeleteErika, make him stop growing up, once they start they never stop. Sweet Noah, always too fun.
ReplyDeleteWe had that happen with Tyler - while VTing. He rolled (not jumped, didn't even really fall) off of the couch and landed funny on his arm. He cried for a minute and then just favored it. We eventually took him in and his was broken too (He was almost 2 at the time). We even had to go to an orthopedic specialist because of where he broke it (by the elbow). Do you have to do that too? I hope he is okay. It is so hard to watch them in casts that young. Baths are fun too. They gave us some special coverings for bath time - but we still had to be really careful not to get it wet. Anyway, I feel for you and him! Good luck - happy healing!
ReplyDeleteDennis cracks me up how proud he is in that picture and little Q why is he moving so quickly? I love that last picture of him concentrating so hard.
ReplyDeleteOh no! Poor guy. My son has a friend who had broken his arm three times by the time he was 4 1/2. Hopefully Dennis isn't going down that road. And your baby is just so awfully cute all the time!
ReplyDeletehahaha...that bib is awesome! Love the concentration! & the scooting! The boys are starting that, but not that much...man will I have my hands full when they are mobile! Go Q!
ReplyDeletePoor dennis...but he is a strong little trooper! His sling was so tiny & so cute! He was sooo good about it too! When I was little I kept taking the wrap off my ankle & messed it up worse!
Poor Dennis ;) broken bones are awful, I hope it heals fast...
