Dearest Noble Bloggers of the Great Blogdom,

Your amicable natures and love of food, fun and manners has entreated me to write to you and tell you of a small, but fashionable party mirrored after some of my favorite Jane Austen stories that was held in honor of my sister-in-law's birthday and my sister's visit. They are both amiable, delightful women with whom I am always happy to spend time. I invited some of their shared acquaintances for an afternoon tea party.

For decor, the room was brightened by a bouquet made of the remaining flowers from some Mother's Day arrangements jauntily placed in an antique teapot.

On display were some favorite stories, as well as fans and pretty handkerchiefs.

As luck would have it, I had many dried rose displays that worked with the color scheme of pale yellow, hues of pink and eggshell white and added needed color and texture to the table. My prized muslin table cloth and lace doilies were of course the perfect touch of elegance. We used yellow and white tea cups with matching saucers.

The Guest of Honor and my darling niece wore their party finery.

The Sweetling....

I fashioned this delightful paper purse for my sister-in-law's birthday gift and filled it with miniature chocolates, lip gloss, candy and a matching notepad for filling with thoughts, dreams or other such notions.

I wore a lace sheath dress complete with turquoise sash. As it were, my pearls added just the right touch for an afternoon party.

I thoroughly enjoyed my lace fan for those slightly warmer moments when I needed some air movement.

The finger food array was delectable and consisted of light cucumber sandwiches....

Lemon Triple Berry Trifle (displayed in my Grandmother's crystal)...

And cherry Jell-O in lime wedges.

Not pictured, but enjoyed just the same were cranberry scones with clotted cream and strawberry coulis, mini quiche bites, chicken curry finger sandwiches, lemon blueberry tarts, cupcakes in the miniature, and raspberry lemonade in lieu of tea, although this beautiful teapot graced our table for effect.

After the main event and when the others had taken their leave, my sister and I took a walk about the garden and partook of the opportunity for photos. We had a splendid time.

The party was a smashing success, the company just as delightful as expected, the atmosphere pleasing and the food, of course, delectable.

I trust this letter finds you all well and in good health and spirits. As always, I hold you in the highest regard and love to read of your latest news and adventures.

Yours, etc.
