Sun, Sand and Surf

Beware of the P.O.U.S. (Post of Unusual Size)...

Over the Summer we were able to go to Lake Powell with some fabulous friends of my family growing up. They let us stay in their house boat and use all their fun toys. Poor Landon had to stay home and work, but me and the kids enjoyed ourselves to the fullest.

Dennis promptly plopped himself into the water to spend some good quality splashing time upon reaching our beach.

Next the kidlets kayaked to their hearts' content.

Paddle boating was next, although I will spare you a picture because there are already so so many.

Followed closely by their skiing premiers.

Papa helped them get up and going.

Mr C. was a daredevilin' fool. He was bouncing and jumping and trying to slide
out of the wake his first time up.

Miss B was also pro and loved every minute of it.

Some of the bathing beauties vogued it for me...

Marvelous Mia

Magnificent Marci

and Magical Megan

Me and my good buddy Nicole had fun kayaking, floating in the lake and chatting.

I spent some valuable time with this lovely and sun-blocking hat.

Here's a taste of our beautiful beach with all the goodness of red rocks, overcast skies, and gloriously colorful weeds.

Q practiced some of his flag waving/spotting skills.

He also refined his bulldog-ness.

And tried out some mini Tevas.

Cousin Chubs (although he's not so chubby anymore) loved floating in the lake and sipping on his bottle while generally enjoying life. His feet got quite wrinkly in the process.

I'm not sure if he was thrilled with the kayak...

But he definitely loved the sand. And look how well he kept his hat on. Not so lucky with the Q.

Miss B loved her some dribbling time. She spent hours creating masterpieces that grew taller and more elaborate each time.

*dribbling is an art mastered by few but loved by many. It consists of nice fine sand of just the right wetness that is dribbled through fingers onto a pile to create towers, people, mountains etc. Only those with patience, persistence and fortitude can produce such creations of the right proportions without them toppling.

This is how you look after two days of playing hard from sun up to sun down.

We took a quick boat ride over to climb Sand Hill. It was definitely a hill full of sand. And a completely, extremely steep hill of fine, white sand which made for tricky climbing.

I made it...barely. I was a titch out of breath at the top. Whew! But check out that view!

Me and my sisters after conquering the hill.

Night on the lake was breathtaking. All was still and calm and peaceful.

And then one last look at the lake from the marina before we headed home....

Thank you dear friends for a memorable and exciting trip!
