One Whole Year

Today!
Happy Birthday to my Sweetie. I was lucky enough to be up all night with the little buddy. It was super fun. But really, he was trying to fall asleep and was soo snuggly and cuddly I can't really complain too much. Gotta love those slobbery kisses, baby caresses and sweet hugs in the wee hours of the morning. It doesn't get too much better than that.

We had the party last weekend with Q's buddy that was born one day after. His mother and I are good friends and we had quite the time planning, making and cooking. Here's a taste of the madness...

Behold the invite. Q loves him some Honky Tonk. That is definitely his music of choice lately. I have experimented with Rap, Pop, Rock, etc, and some good ol' Country is what gets him clapping, dancing and laughing the most. So, the Cowboy theme was very fitting.

Some of the decorations...I took off my chair covers to reveal the old chairs underneath. They certainly added to the feel, methinks...er...I reckon.

We had quite a few Cowboys show up to the hoedown...but a couple of Indians stopped by to party with us as well.

We had some good vittles. Including but not limited to...Corn on the Cob, Ribs, Mashed Potatoes, and Corn Bread.

The Birthday Boy...trying to take off his hat before I can catch a picture with it still on his noggin.

And then here he is again in his other Cowboy shirt... I couldn't decide.

And the other Birthday Boy enjoying a balloon and lots of attention.

The big kids played "There's a Snake in my Boot", although I may have placed the majority of the snakes in a special place and couldn't find them when it came time for the game. They took turns with this one snake instead. Oh well. And of course we found the snakes two days later...now I remember putting them in that vase for safekeeping.... Please tell me you do that too!

We only gave him two gifts since I have no shortage of toys around this joint.

The first is this felt book that was my friend's fabulous idea. I worked on it for many hours. But it is superbly delightful. The kids love looking at all the pictures, details and pieces. Speaking of pieces, it has many, so Q has to have adult supervision as to avoid any choking hazards!

Then I found these cars at Goodwill, and brought them home to paint. I had done the two cars when I turned my back for a moment and returned to find the truck halfway to its current state. Dennis had gotten to it. But I kinda liked it and finished off what he had started, adding a couple of eyes and, Voila!

I cannot throw a party without favors, it's one of my 'favor'ite parts. So...a hat, a mini squirt gun, some butter mints in bandana wrapping, and some Cowboy and Indian figures.

The cake. We wanted a cake that looked like a S'mores and this is what we ended up with. I think it turned out pretty darn good. Any guesses as to what we used?

We made each of them a mini three-tiered chocolate cake with white frosting. The top tier is a mini cupcake. I loved it, course I do love all things mini. It is set atop one of my latest crazes...cake plates. I fashioned it out of an old candlestick that I painted yellow and a small salad plate. I just may have cake plates for every occasion imaginable. I need to stop.

And finally Q diggin' in to his little smash cake. He obliterated it.

I think he enjoyed his cake as well. Don't you just love those rolls? He's so squishy. Q doesn't have many anymore...

I have approximately 1.5 million pictures I am not posting...but I am tired. All in all, it was a success. I think Q most enjoyed eating and squishing his cake as well as sucking on a corn cob for a good portion of 45 minutes.

  1. Happy Birthday Q! Where does the time go? Love the cowboy party! I always try to push my kids into a western themed party, but so far, no luck! At least this year, Brandon wants to be a cowboy for Halloween. Anyway, love your parties as always!
