Ornaments and Such

I have always loved silhouettes. And every year we add one or more meaningful ornament(s) to our tree, so this year I made a silhouette ornament for each of us. They were so fun to make and we laughed and laughed at how distinct everyone's profile is. Can you tell who's who?

And even though these particular pictures look all beautiful, sparkly and full of Christmas cheer...

...things haven't gone quite that way around these parts. Let me paint a quick visual.

For the past few days we've had (more or less),

5 hours of sleep,
4 screaming children,
3 hundred loads of laundry,
2 puking kids,
and some melted ice cream in a dead fridge.
* sung to the appropriate tune *

Happy Holidays!

Hopefully we get over the sickness before the big day...and luckily we saved the Christmas ham and most of the other vittles from lack of cold in time. Thank goodness for the extra fridge in the garage. I don't think we have enough ice chests to accommodate that amount of food. Also, we got our fabulous keeper-of-cold-food fixed the very next morning. And since all the food was out, it also got a long overdue cleaning.

And to make myself feel better, I activated some "I'm sorry" coupons for a back rub and/or hair brushing session from the fabulous and multi-talented Miss B. She tried to say they were expired. I knew better.

  2. I guess those coupons work better now that they're older, I would cringe a bit when they were 3 and wanted to brush my hair. The shilouettes turned out perfect. I love them!

  3. Is it horrible that I'm a little bit glad that I'm not the only one who's a mess!! I almost completed 300 loads of laundry today, so slowly but surely getting something done. Your house looks lovely!!

  5. Sorry about the sickies and the whole fridge thing. That's too bad. Hopefully they're all well soon.

Okay, so your sillouettes are adorable. I can tell everyone except for the first one, but by the process of elimination, I figured out who it was.

    Here's to a better three days! :)

  6. Loved the 5 Pains of Christmas song. :-D Sorry that things have BEEN a pain though. Bri & I have both been sick, so it sounds like things aren't as lovely as they SHOULD be for our friends and families... But I love the ornaments, Lou! You are so creative. I am green with envy. :)

  7. Love it! Once again my wonderful friend directed me to your blog, because we all know about me and the blogging thing. She said that's what you need to do with your empty frame ornaments on your tree.
It's a great idea. I would need to become multi-talented like you though.
I'm so sorry about the puking kids, fridge, etc., etc. It is hard this time of year and then to add that, it is horrible.
I hope it's a lead up to a wonderful Christmas.
    Anywho, I love it!
