Stretching My Creative Muscle and Feeling Awkward

I've had an idea brewing in my head for awhile now.  One where I get some lovely ladies and have them dress in some old-fashioned or just fun and funky type clothes and take pictures.

I have a friend who knows of my vision and has been collecting vintage clothes and accessories for awhile now at thrift stores and yard sales to make my vision become a reality.  So we decided to go do a practice shoot and test things out.

I gathered my umbrella, gloves, suitcases and some jewelry and she gathered her hats and clothes and more jewelry and we spent an hour or so dressing up and laughing and then headed out for pictures.

She was a natural.

I was a nervous wreck.

This was caught candidly as my dear friend was snapping away like a crazed paparazzi.  I was in the middle a fit of uncontrollable/uncomfortable laughter.  I could hardly stand to be the focus of the picture. I don't know what my problem was.  I was stiff, forced and awkward.  I think it had something to do with the fact that we were dressed up and trying to play a part...or something...coupled with the fact that cars were driving by and honking.

Maybe someday I can be like her and pose with ease....

  6. These are great! I love the candid one by far...and Tami really is a natural with all of it.

Dress up is great...for mama's too! Good for you for making it happen. We are never too old, but yes, perhaps a bit embarrassed at times to "play" like girls. Great job.

  7. Love the one of your friend sitting on the suitcase it is beautiful, but you know she has had much more practice at this don't you? She was a model for JC Penney back in the day and was featured in their Sunday ad 72 weeks in a row, an all time record. So don't feel down my friend, and the candid ones always turn out so beautiful.
