Don't Cry Over Spilled Milk

Yesterday was a doozy.   It started off when we woke up late and everyone was rushing around to get ready and I couldn't find Dennis.  He needed to get ready for school.  We finally found him playing computer games on the laptop in his closet.  The big giveaway was the cord running out of his closet to the plug.  Gah.  That's when I noticed that Q was sopping wet.  I asked him why and he said the milk spilled (that's foreshadowing). After an inspection of the kitchen, we found a whole box of cereal on the pantry floor...but no sign of milk.  Q told me he spilled it on the carpet behind the curtain (his favorite spot to hide and eat things he's not supposed to, is behind the curtain on the window sill in the front room).  I walked in there to discover cups, straws and lots and lots of milk in the window sill and the carpet.  Then I looked out the window and saw that, incredibly, the milk had seeped through the wall and was running onto the front porch.  Seriously.  I didn't know that was even possible.  I guess I'm glad it went outside rather than sitting under the carpet.  Apparently he was up very early before anyone was awake and helped himself to breakfast on the window sill.  Unfortunately he doesn't pour so well.  Anyway, we got the carpet cleaned up, the cereal swept, took the curtain off to be washed and wiped the window sill off.  My sister came to visit and help out the other day, so we were chatting in the kitchen, enjoying the silence of the three big kids gone, and all the messes cleaned up...when her baby threw up all over the kitchen and her mother.  My poor sister spent the next hour or so doing even more scrubbing, wiping and cleaning and then I noticed my hubby's car was still parked on the driveway...but the truck was gone.  I called him and he said the car wouldn't start, it wouldn't even try to start.  That's when Miss B called and said she left her homework at home.

But after that it was pretty good, so I guess just yesterday morning was a doozy!

  1. It's days like these where you just gotta plop down on the couch, put your feet up, crack open a beer, and wave your white flag. :~P

  2. Makes me laugh to know that squirreling away food is not abnormal & a little relieved that my kids, messy as they are, have passed the "spontaneous vomit" stage. Actually, it has just made my day! :)

  3. Crazy morning it was, but it made for a fun story (after it was over!) and we can laugh now!
