Hello

I feel like I have been gone for ages.  I had surgery last Thursday, you see...and I have been busy recovering.  Recovering is nasty business.  Just nasty.  Plus it's no fun at all.  But they repaired my esophagus valve that keeps the acid locked away in your stomach where it cannot burn the daylights out of your throat.  It's really better if it stays down there.  Where it's supposed to be.  Anyway.  The doctors said my valve was not doing one thing to keep the acid at bay...not one little thing.  And it was getting harder and harder to control it with medication.  So I opted for surgery.  I don't think I was quite prepared for the aftermath.  But oh well.  Soon enough I will be able to eat without the acid reflux and the burning and the choking.  That will be so nice.  In the meantime I will try and enjoy my delightful liquid diet of ice cream, yogurt, creamed (strained) soups, etc.  I have already dreamed of a baked potato with all the works.  Also it will be extra lovely when I can sleep at a level lower than 30 degrees.  But really, modern medicine is astounding.  The things they can do and fix and repair.  Amazing.  And you lovely clients awaiting photos...I may be a bit behind schedule.  I am so sorry.  I did not realize how much time it would take to recover.  But I will get them to you.  Never fear.

And with that I will leave you with some photos of my new lockers.  Well they are old ones I found on Craigslist, but you know what I mean.  We installed them in the hallway leading to the garage...where the shoe box is, and the hook racks for backpacks and the bulletin board for school papers.  Also, I love that the lockers are metal, because I can keep even more drawings/reminders/calendars on the locker wall with magnets (the wall not facing the kitchen so it all looks clean and nice...which makes me very happy).  Before the lockers, I had a shoe bench with some hooks and shelving above it and it was nice but all of the hats and jackets and purses and keys and whatnot all hung out at odd angles leaving it looking cluttered.  Now everything goes into a locker and the door shuts.  And each person has their own.  Perfect, sleek and clean.  I love it.  I even hung pictures of my family inside my own locker door.  Now I want to personalize the fronts with our names, but I'm trying to think of just the right way...

  2. Oh, Lou, I had no idea you had surgery. It'll be better in the long run. I've had 3 surgeries so far and I'll likely have at least 2 more. Ugh. And they SUCK, SUCK, SUCK.

On a lighter note, I love the new lockers. :) Perhaps you could decorate each one with vinyl lettering and designs on the outside in a personalized font and color...

  7. SO cool! What a perfect storage solution. I had no idea you were having surgery, and I was so sorry to hear that it's been so awful. It's good that it seems all went well and hopefully after the nasty business of recovering is through you will be feeling much better!

  8. Love the lockers, it really did turn out just perfect, like you always wanted. Now if only I had a place for some lockers in my house, I could copy you and be just as happy.
