I love kits. It seems I'm always making or buying a new kit or another, like Travel Kits, or a Birthday in a Box or Back to School Survival Kits. For Christmas, I bought my hubby a sweet pocket Survival Kit. I just love looking at all of the things shoved into that tiny pouch. Makes my little heart sing. Now if I can get him to actually take it with him on his outings, so that it would actually do its job if ever there was a need...instead of sitting on the dresser and looking adorable.
Anyway, I was invited to a Favorite Things party awhile back and I could not think of what to bring. I stewed and thought and pondered and contemplated even more. And then I remembered that I have quite a few favorite things. I finally just gathered up some of my favorite little craft bits, still wondering what to do... and then when I ran into a "Keep Calm and Craft On" tin at Michaels, the stars aligned and angels sang. I think birds were chirping too. And I bought them right up and started filling them with treasures for a Craft Kit.
When making kits, I love to make sure the contents in the kit all fit snug so they don't move or shift. And I like to sneak in as many things as possible. I also like to make sure they are pleasing to look at, and full of adequate amounts of kit feng shui. I decided on a red, blue and gold color scheme for this particular kit.
I added vintage-inspired buttons,
red/white baker's twine,
a vintage miniature frame,
a Ghiradelli chocolate (for a crafting snack),
some craft paper tags,
a bronze key,
some red/white mini chevron twist ties,
an emergency supply of glue sticks,
blue/white ric rac and twine
and finally...cream lace.
Please note...I have discovered that Michaels only carries gift card tins at certain times of the year...like now. And even then, they may be gone. So take my advice and buy them when you see them. That is if you love little tins like me.
