Beautiful Mom: Emily

“As mothers and daughters, we are connected with one another. My mother is the bones of my spine, keeping me straight and true. She is my blood, making sure it runs rich and strong. She is the beating of my heart. I cannot now imagine a life without her.”   ― Kristin HannahSummer Island

This is Part 7 of my Beautiful Mom Project.  Read my explanation and thoughts here.

What is your favorite motherhood moment?

I loved when my kids were really little (4 under age 5), I felt like the whole world thought I was nuts, but I loved it and never for a moment have I ever wished it was any different. I also love the moments when I feel like we did something right, like seeing your kids make good choices, or excel at something, I love those proud moments.

What is your least favorite chore?

My least favorite chore has to be unloading the dishwasher, which is why I hand wash my dishes. Something about it is so irritating... I think it's that the dishes are dirty in there when you need them to be clean and clean in there when you want to stash a couple dirty dishes. Folding wrinkly laundry is a close second.

What inspires you?

I don't know if it's inspiration, but running seems to be the thing that helps me clear my head and get ready to tackle whatever is happening in my day. And I find that when I have a hard day with one of my kids, it helps to go see them when they are asleep that night, it's so peaceful and it's like there is no way that child could have done anything wrong and it helps clean the slate.

What is your go-to dinner?

My favorite go-to dinner is maybe white chicken chili, seriously easy and yummy. It was introduced to me by another mom who shares the same motto I do... if it has more than 5 ingredients, it's too complicated!

Do you have any cleaning/organizational/motherhood tips?

Motherhood tip: I learned from my mom (who could be heard saying this before bed every night) that "Tomorrow is another day!" If you had a rough one or didn't get everything done that you needed to, no worries, you have tomorrow! And if today was a great day... sweet, you get to do it again when you wake up!!!

Cleaning/Organizing: Clean and organize just enough to stay sane, and then enjoy your family.
