One beautiful morning when the sky was bluer than blue and perfect, puffy clouds dotted the horizon, I took the four boys on a hike to the Hassayampa River Preserve. Dear dad was sick and Miss B was buried in books for finals so we left them at home. But I had vowed to visit before it got too hot and it was looking like the last Saturday for a good while. The five of us set out with a picnic and the new baby backpack (that is really quite awesome). The big boys helped me by taking turns holding the babe after our picnic lunch. They were great helpers and I was very glad to have them take a turn with the backpack- perks of older kids. We enjoyed the lush scenery in the desert, collected walking sticks and dipped our toes in a little stream. It was quite lovely.
